podPress 8.8.10.9 - Doesn't recognize post images (6 posts)

I have no trouble inserting images and the media into the posts, however, when I go to share the items elsewhere - the post image does not come through with the link. (Facebook, for example, pulls the next available image on the page, which is part of the site design).

Here's the link if anyone would like to test it:
    http://calvaryqc.org/category/sermons/

You can throw any of those links into "share" on FB or G+ and it doesn't pull the image - but on "regular" blog posts, it does pull the post image. I'm pretty sure it's specific to the PP plugin.

Any ideas? I do have specific thumbnails in the PP settings for the feed, but maybe I missed something?

I'm sorry that you had to wait that long for anresponse. But somehow this thread appeared today for the first time in my feed reader.(Did you set the tag "podpress" today?)

Maybe I can help you. But I don't use Facebook nor Google+. That is why I'm a little bit unclear what we are talking about and that is why I have some questions first.

when I go to share the items elsewhere - the post image does not come through with the link.

What dio you mean by sharing the items? Do you post or insert the URL of a certain post at one of these platforms? Or do you use the URL of the RSS feed of your blog?

You can throw any of those links into "share" on FB or G+ and it doesn't pull the image

links to image files or links to posts or links to certain RSS or ATOM feeds?

    Hi ntm,

Yes I just tagged it today.

I'm not sure you can help if you don't use FB or G+.

When you use the "share" function on either of the sites, (paste the post URL into the box), it pulls information from the post and propagates the title, summary and thumbnail if there is one.

Having said that, there is obviously a difference between a regular post and a podpress post. That information isn't being passed on to those networking sites. I can't tell from the source code what that difference is.

It would help if you used the sharing utility or have seen it in action to know what I mean.

there is obviously a difference between a regular post and a podpress post.

podPress adds of course the player button and the links in the line below it. But it does not alter something else related to the post. One difference are these podPress elements.

But another difference is the width x height ratio of the images of the posts with a podcast episode. The images of the posts with podcast are wide and have a small height while the images in posts like http://calvaryqc.org/2011/10/corem-deo-point-fall-retreat-november-11-13/ have a completely different aspect ratio.
The parser of FB and G+ are creating thumbnails of the images of the posts (as you can see in the FB box in the sidebar of your blog) and if you would shrink an image with a aspect ratio of an image like in one of your podcast posts then the height of the thumbnail would be very small. That is maybe the reason why they don't create such thumbnails.

Could you try that? (Create a test post without a podcast episode but with an image like you use in a podcast post and share that post. You may delete this post afterwards.)

Wow - that's insightful. I browsed thru the archives of the blog and tried to share this: http://calvaryqc.org/2011/05/mens-cookout-june-18th/

It did the same thing - pulled a captcha image instead of any other image from the page (which it usually does, so that's weird all by itself).

I tried another one with a more square image and it went through fine.

Thank you for figuring it out for me!!
