    Hello Guys,
I need help with podPress, it drives me crazy.
I upload my mp3 file to '/uploads/manual' successfully, but it keeps saying 'File not found'. I use permalinks(and I have no problem to stop it) and changed it's Common settings to custom'/archives/%postname%/' but it still replies 'File not found'.
podPress can't get file information(Auto setting returns 'UNKNOWN'), and when I visit the download link it asks for authentication, I enter username and pwd, it replies with 503 couldn't authenticate, when I get back to ftp client and refresh the dir, my uploaded file disappears! it seemed to be deleted automatically after visit, don't know why!

I'm having problems with RSS globally. I tried to install disquss once before and it couldn't connect, should this mean that the problem is server's?

if the player says "File not found" then the URL which he gets is wrong or you are using the statistics feature while something is wrong with your Permalink settings. (Or it has a completely different reason.)

Does it work with the default-Permalink setting and while the statistics feature of podPress is deactivated?
Try to to insert in the field "Location:" (in the podPress box below the post editor) the full URL of the media file.
Does this URL work if you insert it in the address bar of your browser?

    Regards,
    Tim

Hey, Thanks you, it worked with default permalinks and no statistics setting, but it was the same yesterday! (weired) :D
don't know what happened, but it just worked. Yesterday, when I was trying to download the file, it was just disappearing! Today never.
Maybe because I was trying to install all info by hand, and this time i didn't? or it might be a permissions issue? it now works fine.

    Thank you ntm

That are good news. Maybe try to use a standard non-default Permalink scheme like "Day and name". If the player still works after switching the Permalink scheme then activate the statistics feature again and choose as method "Use WP Permalinks" (, save the settings) and make the "Test the stat method" test. It is among the download statistics options. I recommend Counts Only as logging method.
