Error when pressing button to select level of membership. Installed Comodo’s Wildcard Multisite SSL through Hostgator. Using WooCommerce’s Canvas theme and Paypal Payment Express. Have yet to get the membership system functional. Here’s the error message when pressing one of the 4 buttons (Free, 1 year, 2 years & 3 year subscription).

    From this page:
    http://hollowearthresearch.com/membership-account/membership-levels/

    We get this error message:

    The page isn’t redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept
    cookies.

    Try Again

    So that’s it, folks!

Any assistance you can offer would be appreciated!

  • Hi David,

Can you tell me some more information?

Are you using the latest version of Theme My Login or another login plugin?

Are you using any SSL-related plugins like WP HTTPS?

Do you have FORCE_SSL_ADMIN or FORCE_SSL_LOGIN enabled? (http://codex.wordpress.org/Administration_Over_SSL)

    Hi Lisa, PMP Angel! 😉

Can I tell you more information?
    Of course!

Are you using the latest version of Theme My Login or another login plugin?
    Nope.

Are you using any SSL-related plugins like WP HTTPS?
No, Just Better WP Security. I disabled it but no change.

Do you have FORCE_SSL_ADMIN or FORCE_SSL_LOGIN enabled?
    No.

    Any suggestions?

    David

    Hi David,

There are many intricacies with SSL setups, configuration is different for every server/host. When they redirect like that, it usually means that the SSL is NOT set up correctly.

So my best suggestion is to work with your SSL vendor and your host to ensure proper set up.

Or this is something we can assist you with through our paid support plans.

    Hi Lisa,

Sent a note but didn’t seem to stick here. So even thought the SSL Checker says everything is set up and functioning properly, you’re saying it’s not?

Is there a better way to check my URL to ensure it’s been installed properly?

Here are the results from the SSL Checker:

    http://www.sslshopper.com/ssl-checker.html#hostname=hollowearthresearch.com

Would not having set up the Google Analytics result in “The page isn’t redirecting properly” message?

The other concern I have is that my programmer says he has done nothing about the message at the bottom of the Payment Gateway and SSL Settings. If the following has not been done, would that cause redirection problems?

    IPN Handler URL:

To fully integrate with PayPal, be sure to set your IPN Handler URL to

    http://hollowearthresearch.com/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=ipnhandler

forestbeach, it looks like your SSL is installed properly but PMPro is getting into a redirect war with your theme or another plugin on the site. We can resolve these fairly quickly if you sign up for PMPro support on our site and email us a WP admin user/pass and FTP user/pass.

RE the IPN handler, you don’t have to set that at PayPal (the plugin also sends the URL along through the API) but it can help (as a kind of back up) in some situations. It’s a PayPal setting.

    Hi David,

Just checking back to see if this is resolved so I can close this thread, thanks.
