Plugins won't install (at all!)

    hey,
    I’m trying to install a simple slideshow widget to my website and my plugin installer will not install anything.. it says it is doing it, but then stops mysteriously.

    I’ve tried using ftp, but for most i get errors such as:

    Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in /homepages/21/d83466005/htdocs/houseplus/hp/wp-content/plugins/good-old-gallery/inc/content.php on line 16

    and if it isnt that, my widgets cannot be dragged on the widgets screen.
    and if it isnt that, photos cannot be uploaded at all.

    have tried about 10 different widgets by now and am slowly losing my mind!
    Anyone got any idea how i can solve any of these issues.
    If just one worked that would be great.
