   hi. im having trouble with plugins.
   i used to have many plugins until one day i got a message that the were all deactivated. now they all are gone and my dashboard shows no files under plugins. yet in my cpanel files they are all still there.
   when i try to install a new plugin i get the following:

   Downloading install package from http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/site-layout-customizer.1.7.zip…

   Unpacking the package…

   Installing the plugin…

   Could not create directory. /home/zimfam/public_html/wp-content/plugins/site-layout-customizer/

   Plugin install failed.

   i changed the permisions to 777 but still no change
   i then tried uploading the plugin manually. the file now appears in my file manager but not in wordpress.
   any ideas?

   Where are you uploading the plugin folder to? Is the plugin unzipped?

   im uploading to the file -/home/zimfam/public_html/wp-content/plugins
   i also tried to extract the files from the zip first before i uploaded it. still not working.
   do u have a suggestion?

   Unpack the archive & extract the plugin's folder. Then upload that folder to wp-content/plugins.

   i realized that the plugin folder in my file manager had a blank space in it before the word plugin causing the file not to be recognized as the plugin file.
