The automatic upgrade for plugins is not successfully upgrading my plugins.

For starters, when I try to upgrade WordPress has suddenly started asking me for my site’s FTP information.

It hasn’t always done this, but since it has started the upgrades fail to update. There’s always some file that it can’t copy and I get an error message.

I’ve tried disabling all plugins first and then running the upgrade, but it still fails.

Any ideas on how to resolve this? I know I can manually upgrade them, but I have several websites I’m dealing with and it’s just a pain do do them all manually.

I checked my server to make sure it wasn’t a space issue, and that is not a problem. The server is running:

    Apache version 2.0.63
    PHP version 5.2.9

    Cheers and thanks!

I REALLY need help on this one, please and thanks!

Well, life ain’t fair sometimes 🙂

WP needs FTP info to upload plugins. What are the error messages you get? Did your host recently change security settings or their PHP config?

songdogtech, you’ll probably know better than me on this one, but would defining some of these stop that happening?

Well, I don’t know if I know better than anyone else at all!

Those wp-config overrides are an interesting idea; I didn’t know those were possible and are good for future reference. I don’t know what errors she is getting right now….

@songdogtech – you’re right about my host changing their security settings, so thanks for that one! Problem solved.

Thank goodness, because I have no idea what @alism is talking about doing. Whew.

Cheers all and thanks for the input.

    Hi!

I have similar problem when I try to upgrade automatically some plugins.

Below is the Error message received for each plugin I try to upgrade:

(WordPress 2.9.2 is available! Please update now.)
    Upgrade Plugin
    Downloading update from http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/akismet.zip

    Unpacking the update

Incompatible archive: PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature

The version I have now running is 2.5.1.

    Would appreciate any help!

    Thanks !

Oups…forgot to mention address of my blog running under version 2.5.1

    http://candlekits.qarf.com

Could the fact that the version is outdated be the reason why I cannot upgrade my plugins?

I’m afraid to upgrade to 2.9.2. Will it work?

Thansk in advance for guiding lights!

    Best

    Janice
