   I have downloaded a couple of plugins just to make sure. When I ftp in and load the plugins everything is normal. When I go to activate the plugins they are not there. FTP'd back in and the plugins did show that they were in the correct file and there. I'm so Confused

   Try downloading the Zip file from your desktop directly from wordpress.

   Go to Control panel, click in the left column "plugins" then click "add new".

   I am no good with FTP, it confuses the hell out of me so I just download directly this way and it works great.
