Plugins not showing or deleting (8 posts)

I have wordpress on two blogs of mine. I am using the newest version, but am having some issues now. Not sure if the issue is wordpress or something else entirely.

I have added some plugins and even though they are in the plugins folder they do not show on the control panel so I cannot activate them nor use them.

Also I have deleted another plugin that I am no longer using, but even though the file is gone from the folder the plugin is still in the plugin list and can be activated. I am at a loss for this as I have never had this happen to me while using wordpress in the past.

Any ideas anyone has would be helpful.

    Thanks

Not sure. What would be a good way to check for this. I know that the host provides mirrored backups in case of any issues.

did you watch the videos? you check by looking at where you have uploaded the plugins.

This is not my first blog with it. The installation is not showing up anywhere. Also if I delete a file from plugins where it is only supposed to be and the only place I put it then the file should be gone and unable to be used again.

I am having this same problem where I have deleted folders from the plugin directory and have added new ones, but these changes are not showing up in the plugin list in the dashboard. I've tried the folder nested thing, but to no avail, they still do not show up. The ones I deleted are still there however when I delete them through the admin panel, they go away, but do not delete on the server.

It almost as if it lost a connection or something.... I am running version 2.6.2 with the following active plugins:

    • Akismet
    • All in One SEO Pack
    • Google XML Sitemaps
    • Lightbox 2
    • pb-embedFlash
    • QuickTime Embed
    • Register Plus
    • Role Management
    • WP-Polls

    Any ideas? I'm pretty stumped.

I figured out the problem. Nothing to do with wordpress. I decided to do a little test in uploading files and images to directories. Nothing worked when I went to the address where I uploaded a particular file. it ended up that our host, Dreamhost, did an emergency move to a different machine and our FTP host name had changed! So even though the client showed that it was connecting, it was connecting to the old site, not the new one, and was not reflecting changes.

Anyone else who has this particular problem with connections, check your host name when your FTPing things!

    :)
