• I have a Multi-site/Network running and when I go to my Admin Dashboard my plugins show 28, but as soon as I go to my “sites” there are only 16. I am missing some. They disappeared. I am so confused. I have even tried to deactivate different ones (like WP Security, because it may have conflicted with WP Google Fonts – but it didn’t work) thinking there might be a conflict. But alas I am back to square one. What do I do to get them back?

  • Are the ones that are missing ones that you’ve “network activated”? If they’ve been activated at the network level, then they won’t show up in the plugins list for individual sites in the network. That’s because they can’t be activated/deactivated at the site level, since they’re activated at the network level.

I understand what you are saying. I was told by the guy at BlueHost it was in regards to the plugins that I have and that some plugins don’t span the Multi-User/Network. He told me to email the specific creators to ask for information. The biggest thing, is that I can’t use WP Google Fonts in my sites because it is not working on my sites, even though it says activated on my admin level. It only works on my home website, where it was originally loaded when I created it first, prior to “going” Network. Any other thoughts?

Just for clarification – is the WP Google Fonts plugin activated on the main site or in the Network Admin?

I did a little testing with the WP Google Fonts plugin on multisite and I can confirm that it worked in my testing. Let’s check to see how it’s activated on your sites.

In your dashboard, click My Sites in the top navigation bar and click Network Admin. This is the network admin, not to be confused with the dashboards for the individual sites. Now click Plugins in the left navigation.

Does it say Network Activate or Network Deactivate under the WP Google Fonts plugin?

If it says Network Deactivate, then it is activated for all of your sites. Visit each site’s dashboard and you should see Google Fonts under Settings. In this case, you will not see “WP Google Fonts” in the plugins list on the dashboard of the individual sites, because it is activated at the network level.

If it says Network Activate, then it is not activated at the network level and you can either activate it on each site where you want that feature (it will show up in the plugins list on each sites’ dashboard) or you can network activate it to make the feature available for all sites.
