I have two plugins (akismet and wp-phpmailer) in their own subfolder in the plugins folder (wp-content/plugins) but neither is listed on the Plugins Management page. The message on the page says "Couldn't open plugins directory or there are no plugins available."
What the heck? I've searched on the forum for answers, but it seems I'm the only one that has experienced this very basic problem.

help me please! :)
Check your permissions on your wp-conten\plugins folder then on the individual plugin folders.

Yes. Is the theme switch plugin one single php file or multiple files in a folder.
