I’ve got 2.7.1 installed and now when there is an update to a plugin currently installed it gets to the unpacking step and stalls:

    Downloading update from http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/add-to-any.zip
    Unpacking the update

This happens on brand new plugins as well. Didn’t have any problems whatsoever with 2.7.0 so it seems something in 2.7.1 borked up the permissions or something.

When I ftp into my site and go to /wp/wp-content, the zip files of the plugins are their and fully downloaded but they never get extracted.

    I’ve tried chmod’ing to 777 with no luck, it’s currently at 755.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Tom

  • Try downloading the plugin zip to your local machine, then use the Install a plugin in .zip format in Plugins->Add New.

that gets stuck in the unpacking stage as well.

ok, got it fixed. I deactivated a number of plugins and reactivated one at a time followed by doing and update of the plugins that had updates available and they all installed properly. Seems one of the deactivated plugins allowed me to update again, weird.

    UPDATE:
I think it was the WP-DowloadManager 1.4.0 that was the problem. When I activate that, no plugins will install. When I deactivate, plugins install normally.
