[resolved] Plugins I have been using a long time are suddenly missing (6 posts)

I installed the Sucuri Scanner plugin to help protect my site from Malware. After installation suddenly i got an error message that there was a problem with the header for my other plugins and they disappeared from the Plugins menu.

They are all still there in the remote FTP area. I could reinstall many of them from scratch, but I am afraid to lose everything I did with Nextgen Gallery, for example.

Can my plugins be rescued? If so...how?
Thanks for your help. I tried to find the answer before posting but no luck and now my baby is crying. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Best,
    Kristen

Update. I tried to change the permissions on my plugins folder because after trying to install Akismet again, it failed because, "Destination folder already exists. /home/content/k/p/a/kpalana1/html/wp-content/plugins/akismet/"

Can someone please help me? I am getting so much spam without this plugin.

You already have a copy of Akismet in wp-content/plugins. Try uploading the plugin's unpacked archive to wp-content/plugins using FTP.

Thank you! I deleted the existing Akismet folder and reinstalled it anew.
I can do this (though time-consuming) with the rest of my plugins. My question remains though..is there anything I can do to save the plugins that were there just a day ago or do I need to delete and reinstall them each by hand.

I want to try to save my old Nextgengallery plugin because I think a lot of content will be lost if I deleted the old and reinstalled.

    Best,
    k

In theory, nothing should be lost if you delete and re-upload using FTP.

    That worked. Thanks!
    Problem solved.
