    I know there are other posts about this, but every one seems to be about a different problem. This just happened in the past couple hours that I logged into the site to update it and the plugins aren't visible in the admin.

    They're still on the site. I can see them through FTP. I assume the site has been hacked. I'm seeing a lot of unknown file messages through Exploit Scanner.

    What do I need to do here?

  2. Are you sure you are logged in as an admin? Subscribers won't see plugins and other menus items in admin.

    I am.

    I've also noticed that none of the pages or posts can be edited. When I open an existing post in the admin, there's only a blank white box where the content should be in the editor.

    Interesting that I also experienced these two problems at about the same time. I realized that the blank white box still had content, but it was in a white font. I could see it by "selecting" it.

    After some searching, I found the page http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Your_Browser_to_Diagnose_JavaScript_Errors

    It advised to add the following to wp-config file:

    define('SCRIPT_DEBUG', true);

    just before "That's all..."

    I “refreshed” the editor, and the icons appeared. Problem solved!

    However, shortly before I did this, I also had the problem of disappearing plugins. I've submitted a post to the forum, but haven't found a solution to that one yet.
