[plugin/dev] how to call wp image uploader?

I’m doing a specific WPMU plugin to configure custom themes and i’d like to enable image upload/choose from this plugin. But i don’t know how to call the ajax image uploader/chooser and configure it to get an ID of the image selected by user. Is it possible?

perhaps is there any dev only forum to ask this?
