   Just curious - I would like this plugin to display a list of related articles drawn only from one particular custom post type when displaying the single-custom.php template. But, for the regular blog... I want the plugin to display the best of everything on the site (as it normally would.)

   How do I call related_posts() and tell it which template that I want it to use?

   Unfortunately, YARPP doesn't have any custom post type support... yet.

   Yeah, figured that out shortly after posting my question. Bummer...

   I'll look for another solution and eagerly await the feature to be added? (Please?? :) )

   is there a way that i can hack it? i want it to go jus for the custom post type for now and not the wordpress post type. it would help

   There isn't a very easy hack for it right now, no.
