[Plugin: Yet Another Related Posts Plugin] YARPP freezes browsers when there are thousands of tags (8 posts)

    Hello,

YARPP is a great plug-in, thank you! I have noticed that the admin interface can get VERY slow or even freeze the browser if there are thousands of tags.

Is there a way to make the tag enumeration optional in the admin UI?

This is a known issue. Here's the trac ticket you can follow:

Thanks Micho -- while you seem to check on the forums: I also had issues while importing content (via WXR files). It seems that the import process does execute some code form the plug-ins, probably because of the filters etc. The Import was timing out every 200 posts or so (I didn't have the usual PHP memory issues that most users report). I had to disable YARPP and PageNavi to get things to import normally. Honestly, I'm not sure why either would do anything, but I thought that you'd like to know.

Ah, interesting. I should indeed see if I can disable the "related post building" during import... disabling YARPP during that process and reenabling it later should do the trick, for the time being.

Yes, that's what ended up doing, but not before loosing 4hrs thinking that it was a timeout issue or a memory issue with PHP. Maybe a note in the FAQ or something might spare someone else :) I thought that I'd mention it. thx!

@Hubert sorry to hear about that. Hope to take care of this later... I accept patches as well! :)
