[Plugin: Yet Another Related Posts Plugin] Some Clarification & Assistance (9 posts)

    Hello,

I have installed YARPP version 3.3.3 and managed to get it working after tinkering around with it for a while.

(N.B The beta dosen't work for me, it gives me weird results, and without that i cant use the experimental plugin)

All my posts are related, basically my blog is a diary so every day i post a new picture so the day before becomes related, all the posts have the same tags they are not part of the same categories as this changes based on the month.

What i would like to know is if i go to the most recent post why does it miss some of the older posts out for example

15 <- This is the recent post
    14
    13
    12
    11
    10
    6
    5
    3
    1

9,8,7 & 4 are all missing even though they have the same tags.
In the relatedness settings i made sure that category and everything else was turned off and just left tags turned on.

Any help or advice would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Rich

What criteria are you considering? You can see this under the "Relatedness options" which may be hidden... unhide them in the screen options.

Note the beta you mention is now Release Candidate. Please test with the latest version and I'd be glad to try to resolve the issues you have there.

    Hello Michael,

Here is the criteria i am considering - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/42514355/YARPP.png

I will install the RC as you mention and see if that resolves any of my problems.

My blog has now also been upgraded to WordPress 3.3

    Thanks for your help
    Richard

    Michael,

I have installed the latest version which made no difference infact it has made things worse, now instead of missing some older posts out, no related posts are show AT ALL here is an example http://365pockets.com/2011/day-21-11122011/

Here are my settings - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/42514355/yarrp2.png i tried installing That yarpp experiments but that did nothing not really sure how to configure the Dingus and i seem to get error messages everytime i try and relate posts using it.

    Error message;

    cache type: bypass
Warning: call_user_func_array() expects parameter 1 to be a valid callback, class 'YARPP_Cache_Bypass' does not have a method 'join_filter' in /home/richardh/public_html/365pockets/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 227

    Settings used - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/42514355/dingus.png

    Hope this helps some
    Richard

I believe this is fixed now. Please try the latest trunk version, which will become 3.4.1: http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/yet-another-related-posts-plugin.zip

Thanks. Are you calling related_posts() or one of the other functions directly, passing in some extra arguments?

    Neither, see this http://dl.dropbox.com/u/42514355/no_relation.png

Their are no posts related when according to my settings they should ALL be related as they all have the same tags and all are in the 30 day window

    I don't understand

Rich, here's something you can try:

    1. install the YARPP experiments plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/yarpp-experiments/
    2. Go to the YARPP settings page, where you'll see the Dingus: http://s.wordpress.org/extend/plugins/yarpp-experiments/screenshot-3.png?r=475046
    3. Get the post ID of that page you were editing (it should be in the URL). Enter that in that first field after "yarpp_get_related" and click "relate!". See what results you get. Then, try increasing the "limit" field and see what you get.
