[Plugin: Yet Another Related Posts Plugin] Add nofollow to related posts?Stop using search engines f (4 posts)

Hi, my website is located at http://enli.co.cc and one of my page is ranked much higher in SERPs than others. The plugin works great by the way.

The site has one page which is ranked much higher in SERPs and the related posts on that page are also followed by google. And if incoming search should land on page "X" it is instead landed on this high ranked page because it contains link to that page "X" in related posts. This is happening for about 4-5 pages and I do not wish to mislead the readers.

Is there way we can hide this related posts links block from search engines, so that they don't follow the links.

    Regards,
    EnLi

  2. enli, you can do this sort of customization using YARPP 3 templates:

Personally, though, I take Matt Cutts' advice to not try to do much pagerank shaping through nofollow's.

I have a similar situation on my blog. It seems that much of the YARPP link text is showing up in search engines - as well as my sites internal search feature.

I don't know how to stop this, other than to 'nofollow' the plugin.

    I would appreciate any advice.

  4. The YARPP links showing up in search engines is a totally different issue than what is asked here (using nofollow to make search engines not follow the links). The fact that search engines have that content is a *good thing*... it means that those links to your other related content, and the information on what's related to what on your site, will be incorporated into things like Google's PageRank algorithm.

There's no other way of hiding just that output from search engines aside from not displaying it at all.
