The problem might be that when I backup, the .zip file is not created, but it does create the folder with all the files in it.

I compress the file and download it from my server (where the backup is stored).

I then move it to my localhost under a new directory. I include the restore.php. So now I have a .zip file and restore.php.

I go to restore.php, enter all the credentials, and run it.

The database is created with records inserted. However. If I go to the index.php, it asks if i want to install wordpress and there is no restored data in the installation.

    I also receive two errors:

    1. Warning: file_get_contents(database.sql) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\xampp\htdocs\dell\stor_ct2\restore.php on line 239

    2. Warning: unlink(database.sql) [function.unlink]: No such file or directory in C:\xampp\htdocs\dell\stor_ct2\restore.php on line 263

But it does say Process completed.

If you were not able to backup your original site, i do not see how you would be able to restore, so you will need to first fix the backup process.

Could you give us more details on the issue you have and why you are not able to backup, any specific error? did you follow the wordpress install instructions for XCloner?

    I provided the specific errors.
Correct me if I'm wrong but when you run the backup, the .zip file should be created. This does not occur when I run the backup; as I only see a folder with all the files (uncompressed). So this is where things go wrong. When I manually compress the files, I then place them in my new directory, add the restore.php, and run restore.php, filling in the info and clicking restore. Then I get the errors above.

Would this have anything to do with me installing the backup on a localhost?

Thanks for the quick response @xcloner.

I think xcloner means 'Do you get an error when you try to run a backup?'

XCloner creates by default a .tar file, could you provide us with screenshots from your generate backup screen as well as during the backup process? it might help understanding the issue you have.

Secondly, did you create the administrator/backups/ folder in your WP root before starting the backup process?
