[Plugin: WPtouch] resizing (or not) featured images

I have the WPtouch free version installed on one site (affordableidos.com) and have modified the default theme to add my custom posts and shortcodes, among other things. I expect to upgrade to the Pro version in the near future, which should have native support for at least some of the things I added to the free version.

I am using featured images and custom shortcodes for some banner-type displays (largish image and associated text), for example at the top of the home page. I don’t want to use a thumbnail for these particular images but WPtouch is only showing the thumbnail, even when I override the image size in the shortcode handler function, e.g.
get_the_post_thumbnail($post->ID, 'medium');

Is this intentional, and is there a way around it in the Pro version?
