The free version is always available right here, on wordpress.org.
We want people to know about the Pro version, not because we don't want them using the free version, but, after 1.2 million downloads, we want them to know there's a pro version and what it's all about.
I don't see how it's any more difficult to obtain the free version than the paid version.
The first two results from google for me are: our site for the pro version, and the wordpress.org repository for the free version.
Regardless, enjoy WPtouch. It's free, and will always be free. And soon we'll be handing down some of the great additions in the Pro version to the free version, courtesy the paying customers that have helped us advance the product.
All we hoped was that people who wanted more out of the product would recognize the time and dedication that went into it and would be willing to support us in the work, financially.
