After installing the plugin, I started to see in my Wp-Stats that as referrers there are only these:

    Referrer	Views
    facebook.com/widgets/fan.php?api_key=…	782
    facebook.com/extern/login_status.php?…	344
    connect.facebook.com/widgets/fan.php?…	250
    facebook.com/widgets/fan.php?api_key=…	199
    facebook.com/widgets/fan.php?api_key=…	179
    facebook.com/extern/login_status.php?…	145
    facebook.com/widgets/fan.php?api_key=…	145
    facebook.com/widgets/fan.php?api_key=…

And no other referres are showed up. Then, always in WP-Stats, I have seen a great increase of page views, from 3.000 now I’m on 10.000!! I can see this strange increase also on my Google analytic account. But real users seems not to be increased!
So I don’t want that your plugin and the facebook apps are wasting my server’s resources by continually comunicating each other.

Interesting – I’m not seeing this on any of the blogs I run WPBook on, but I don’t use WP-Stats plugin (I use Google Analytics and the WordPress.com stats plugin).

(Google Analytics, in fact, doesn’t event show facebook.com as a referrer at all).

Did you by any chance also install the FBConnect plugin or the Sociable.es one?

Did the facebook.com references in your WP-Stats show your api_key in the querystring?

Sorry, for wp-stats plugin I mean WordPress.com Stats plugin! I don’t use any other plugin that interact with facebook, like FBConnect plugin or Sociable.es.
Here are some complete url from the referrer tab of WordPress.com Stats plugin:

    http://www.facebook.com/widgets/fan.php?api_key=945990f2728b0158026fa40ddf38c123&channel_url=http%3A%2F%2F1e2.it%2F2010%2F03%2Faltro%2Fvideo-hard-di-giusy-ferreri.html%3Ffbc_channel%3D1&id=109081365782654&name&width=300&connections=10&stream=0&logobar=0&css

    http://facebook.com/extern/login_status.php?api_key=945990f2728b0158026fa40ddf38c123&extern=0&channel=http%3A%2F%2F1e2.it%2F2010%2F03%2Faltro%2Fvideo-hard-di-giusy-ferreri.html%3Ffbc_channel%3D1&locale=en_US

Maybe they are caused by the Facebook Fan tab I have added to my website (1##e##2##.it without #): the Facebook Fan widget is associated to the facebook app generated for WPBook, not for a fan page.

    Any idea?

@galerio Try removing the Facebook Fan tab and see.

I’m not getting any of these referrers in my stats and I have used WPBook for a very long time.

Is anyone else seeing this behavior?

This is also happening to one of my sites.

I use the Facebook Connect plugin and have a FB fan page box on the site.

On 18 April the stats started to climb unusually—from around 25,000 page views a day to over 50,000.

I suspected it was something to do with changes at Facebook’s back end?

Anyone seeing this who is not using the FB Connect plugin or the FB fan box?

I think it must be related to one of those rather than WPBook as I’m not seeing this behavior on any of my test blogs

I got the same Problem, but I don’t use the WPBook Plugin. I built my own Fanbox with Facebook Connect.

And also in my WordPress.com Stats plugin are only facebook referrers…

Speyburn – sorry I can’t help, but it seems to me this isn’t an issue with WPBook but with using Conenct.

I have the same problem here. I’ve installed FB Connect only and I don’t have WPBook plugin installed. After I use it for a while I’ve completely uninstalled FB connect, I’ve deleted my FB app and APP ID as well. But I still see the same urls on my Google Analytics stats.

Issue is because of Facebook connect plugin…
I removed the plugin but It still have an instant of API key …I found this when I reinstall this plugin to verify…
I don’t know how to fix this,,,also Emailed the author of the plugin..but seems like he is too busy to answer!!
