[Plugin: WPBook] Problem With Attribution Line
-
The Attribution Line strings didn’t show up correctly.

Thanks.

@iwingmusic – those strings are not currently available for substitution in the attribution line – %category% and %tags% work in the custom header and footer section, but the attribution line doesn’t parse all the same tags.
Guess we’ll add the ability to use all the same strings used in the custom header in the attribution line as a feature request
@johneckman Ok thank you very much. So I could only set the strings to %author% or %blog% for now?
Regards.
@iwingmusic That is correct you can only use %blogname% and %author% for now.
@johneckman, Maybe we should add some more but not have as many as header/footer. Maybe limit it to only grabbing the first tag/cat and not allowing the %comments% link.
@bandonrandon Thank you.
@johnneckman
%author% is not working for me. It is currently showing a blank. see. facebook.com/nthdegreecpas for example. Have you heard of this happening before?@guitarthrower – I haven’t, and I’m not seeing it at the link you provided.
Can you point to a specific post, and where you used %author%?
This is a post on our blog. http://www.nthdegreecpas.com/headline/track-your-refund-theres-an-app-for-that/437/
When it posts to Facebook, I would expect to see this:
Nth Degree CPAs Jayson Wiser, Nth Degree CPAs, PLLCBut instead I see this:
Nth Degree CPAs , Nth Degree CPAs, PLLCThe author shows in the post section of the admin view, but it’s not in the css of the blog for the post. Could this be why?
When you say “When it posts to Facebook” you mean the excerpt that gets posted to your wall? (as opposed to the canvas page).
In other words, you mean where it appears on your wall here:
<http://www.facebook.com/NthDegreeCPAs>Rather than where it appears here:
<http://apps.facebook.com/nthdegreecpas/headline/track-your-refund-theres-an-app-for-that/437/>So I think the issue is that when publish_to_facebook() gets called, it isn’t being called from inside the loop, therefore it has no context by which to get the current posts author.
Let me look for another function we can use instead.
You may need to ‘hard code’ author info in the meanwhile into your attribution line.
Yes, thanks for clarifying that. When it posts to the wall, I was expecting to see the author name.
It would be nice to have the author pull automatically, as there are three of us that create posts. Let me know what you find out.
Actually it’s more simple – typo in a function.
wpbook.php, line 975, you’ll find:
if($author='')
That should be:
if($author == '')
(The old “assignment versus evaluation” problem).
It’s fixed in trunk, will be in the next release.
I made the change, then created a new post, but no change on the wall…
Fixed now, if you want to grab latest dev version – or you can wait on the release.
Change Line 48 in wpbook/includes/publish_to_facebook.php to:
$message = wpbook_attribution_line($wpbook_attribution_line,$my_author);
Works like a charm!
Thanks for you help and quick response time!
