WPBook
2.1 not working (30 posts)

    Hi, this is my first time using WPBook. I followed the instruction under the "1.Basic Facebook Application Setup and Plugin Activation". After I have set up the application, I tried accessing the apps page (http://apps.facebook.com/jacksonphang/), it keeps refreshing and is unable to load any contents.

    Without being able to access the apps page, I am unable to authorize postings to FB. Please help. Thanks.

    I can confirm that wpbook 2.1 is not working. Used the previous version, everything worked fine. Now on Facebook there's a blank page ... Had to go back to stable version 2.0.13

    Just to add on, when I deactivate WPBook, I am able to load the apps page. But when I activated it, the apps page goes on refreshing continuously again.

    Hope above gives more insight to the problem I am facing.

    Thanks Bandon. The apps page is working now.

    However, there is a new problem. I've completed the steps and granted the permission to publish new posts to my wall. I published a new post and it doesn't appear on my FB profile (http://www.facebook.com/jackson.phang). Need some help. Thanks.

    I am getting this error code when I try to publish new posts,

    Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_the_post_thumbnail() in /home/jacksonp/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wpbook/includes/publish_to_facebook.php on line 72

    Still the wpbook 2.1 version gives a blank page. What has changed exactly in the settings and could you be more precise about OAuth?

    christian, bandon meant enabling the "OAuth 2.0 for Canvas" under the advanced tab in the facebook apps settings.

    @jphang - see the other thread here in the forums.

    Adding:
    add_theme_support( 'post-thumbnails' );

    To the functions.php in your theme (your normal theme outside FB)

    Seems like that function may be undefined *if* your theme does not support post thumbnails

    @jphang - have you gone to the check permission screen? What does it say?

    @christianebuddy - did you go through the changes outlined in the posts linked to here:
    http://www.openparenthesis.org/2011/03/14/wpbook-2-1-released

    Specifically the change of API Key to app id, and enabling OAuth for canvas?

    Were you using WPBook in older versions?

    hi john, i've checked the permission.

    This user_id has granted these permissions:

    •offline_access - yes
    •read_stream - yes
    •publish_stream - yes

    i think everything is ok, except that i don't know why they don't appear on my wall.

    Does it say, on that page:

    This user has set an access_token for the application to use.

    Are the user profile id and page id both set correctly?

    Have you published a new post?

    Was the "Publish this post to Facebook Wall?" box set to "yes" in the post edit screen when the post was published?

    Which wall are you trying to post to - your personal profile, or a group/page/application wall?

    Thanks for the prompt response john.

    Yes, the page does say "This user has set an access_token for the application to use."

    Yes, I've copied and paste the profile id. I only chose to publish to my personal profile page and did not set the page id.

    Yes, I tried a couple of times publishing new post.

    Yes, the box was definitely checked yes.

    Personal profile.

Now with 2.1 followed the instructions on http://www.openparenthesis.org/2011/03/14/wpbook-2-1-released (which should be put into the Installation instructions on wordpress or on the FAQ page). But no success, now when I do the check permissions on the publish stream I do get the Facebook blank page ......

    I'm getting this error and I've spent the last 2 hours trying to fix it and I'm lost.

    This user has NOT set an access_token for the application to use.

    Help?

    I just added upgrade instructions over at WPBook.net: http://wpbook.net/docs/upgrade/ Please follow these instructions before posting here.

    There is also a lot going on in this threa. To make sure we don't miss anyone I' gonna request you start a new thread for each new issue.

    @GreekSpy can you open a new thread and define "not working"?

    @atmaram I think this may be a Facebook setting. I think you have to either post as a page or a user. So I bet you could set up a page and post your app page that way.

    @christianebuddy Is your app working besides the permission problem?

    @pantone204 please open a new thread and talk about some of the things you did to troubleshoot, your app url, your site url, and WPBook version.

    BUT I do have another question.

    We have a group/company page that I am an admin for, and I created the application with my personal account, but I obviously don't want my personal account avatar to pop up when a post is made to the group wall from WordPress.

    How do I list the comment as coming from the group instead of me? I realize it's because I created the app, so do I need to recreate the app under a new, personal account?

    My permissions link is showing like this

    This page is where you can check and grant extended permissions, which enable WPBook to publish to your personal wall and/or to the walls of fan pages.

    Your userid is 597027240

    You will need to enter that number into the WPBook settings page on your WordPress install.

    This user_id has granted these permissions:

    * offline_access - yes
    * read_stream - yes
    * publish_stream - yes

    This user has set an access_token for the application to use.

    To correct any of these, Grant or re-grant permissions for your userid. (This is required if you intend to publish to your personal wall OR any fan pages.)

    You've indicated you wish to publish to this page: 155590327809738

    This page has NOT granted stream.publish permissions to this app (OR this is an application profile page or group page - no way to check those currently). Grant stream.publish for this page.

    I tried to Grant stream.publish for page... But its not showing any thing for granting instead Application gets loaded.

    Let me know. It may be some minor setting but not able to locate it...

    @BandonRandon No the app is not working.

    According to the instructions I have to recheck the permissions. There is no way in rechecking them (when I go back to 2.0.13 after disabling there are links to recheck one by one, in 2.1 there are not) . I only can go to the facebook permissions page with the provided link and there is a blank page. Every single aspect on the upgrade instructions are followed, so I do not know what's wrong?

    @christianebuddy - can you start a new thread in the forums specifically about the inability to recheck permissions?

    You should not be trying to use the individual links that were part of 2.0.13 - you should be using the one and only link provided in 2.1. The whole mechanism for requesting, checking, and saving permissions is different in 2.1 and later than it was in 2.0.x.

    Your permissions page url should look something like this:
    http://apps.facebook.com/app_name/?is_permissions=true&wp_user=2

    It is in the WPBook settings, under stream publishing, and says "Check permissions for stream publishing, reading, and offline access."

    Once you have located that page, start a new thread about your permission problems, listing what gets printed out when you hit that page.

    @atmaram What kind of page are you trying to publish to?

    Note that it says the page has not granted permissions "OR this is an application profile page or group page - no way to check those currently."

    What is the link (the url linked to, not the text) for "Grant stream.publish for this page"?

    Are you an admin of that page?
