WP-Table Reloaded
[resolved] Visual editing and import? (7 posts)

I would like to do table data in Excel or some similar visual editing tool and be able to import it into WP Table Reloaded.

Saving as csv works for me in Excel but it strips hyperlinked content leaving me having to write hyperling html code into Excel directly which is a pain.

Is there no way to ease this proces?

    Hi,

    thanks for your question.

The reason for this simply is that Excel only exports the URL of the hyperlink and not HTML. Due to that, the URL looks just like text.
However, there's a small Extension to WP-Table Reloaded, that will automatically make URLs clickable, so that you won't have to manually write the HTML for the link. You can find it on my website at http://tobias.baethge.com/2009/12/extension-1-url-to-link-conversion/

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

Thanks. Would prefer linked text and the actual full url but better than nothing

    Hi,

ok, I see. In that case, the only chance is to type the HTML in Excel (due to the reasoning I mentioned above), or to simply add the links in WP-Table Reloaded and not in Excel. You can then use the "Insert Link" button, which makes it a little bit easier than having to type the HTML. For large tables, this is of course still a lot of work...

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

    Hi Tobias,

Thinking about doing html import instead. Seems easier to add html wyisyg that way.

So I am doing a draft post in WP with just a table. Then I just grab the html from source view.

    Hi,

yes, the HTML import should keep the links, as they are in HTML already.

And thanks for your donation, I really appreciate it!

    Best wishes,
    Tobias
