• Dear Tobias, thanks for your lovely plugin!

I give my users the possibility to print out a table on paper. That works fine, but the table comes without a title. I’d like to add the table-title on the printed document.

I managed to edit the title hardcoded in the field sPrintMessage in tabletools.js, but I can’t find where to fill this field dynamically and how to do it.

Where do I add the code to add the table-name to the field sPrintMessage and what is the code? Hope you can help me out, thanks a lot.

  • Hi Yvon,

    thanks for your question.

Unfortunately, after looking into it a while, I have to admit that I don’t really know a way to have that string filled dynamically with a table’s title at the moment 🙁
I have not yet played that much with the TableTools JavaScript, but in theory it might be possible by adding a line of JavaScript using a plugin filter. The problem is, that there is no way of obtaining the title of the table when inside that plugin filter. So, I guess that you have found a limitation of the plugin…
I’m really sorry that I don’t have better news right now 🙁

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

    Hi Tobias,

Thanks for your quick reply and for looking into this. Your answer helps in that I will stop searching… 😉 I will have to find another way to solve this. I thought of adding the title in the first row of the table and use colspan. But then the tabletools don’t work, so no solution there… Anyway, will find something!

    Best wishes,
    Yvon
