wp-content is writeable! How to fix on windows box? (3 posts)

    Hi,

Running a wp site on a windows 2003 machine, i've tried everything in attempts to remove this warning message in the plugin window.

Everything from using a ftp to connect and do chmod 755 on wp-content and using the properties / security and only allow the user running apache to have read access in wp-content.

Also tried "read-only" for the folder but didn't work either.

I'm lost here, i know windows isn't the best system to run servers on, but it's what i have for now.

If there isn't any solution for the trouble, can someone please tell me the exact security risks of having the wp-content folder writable?

    Thank you guys.

I've the same problem but it doesn't matter. This is a WP Cache issue.

I'm not sure about Windows servers. You should probably go search for documentation on setting the permissions on directories in general.
