• This add-on popped up in plug-ins for my new blog. Innocently, I activated it. Then, after glancing at the humongous number of things you had to be aware of if you ever wanted to throw it overboard, I decided to do just that. I got a messae like this:

Warning: include(../../../wp-load.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home8/theheap0/public_html/howtoremovewartsmoleskintags/wp-content/plugins/wp-super-cache/uninstall.php on line 8

Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening ‘../../../wp-load.php’ for inclusion (include_path=’.:/usr/lib64/php:/usr/lib/php’) in /home8/theheap0/public_html/howtoremovewartsmoleskintags/wp-content/plugins/wp-super-cache/uninstall.php on line 8

UNINSTALL_WPSUPERCACHE must be set to a non-blank value in uninstall.php

Soooo, since i was just starting this blog I decided to start over — I uninstalled WP on the site and then re-installed it. Guess what, I STILL get that message when I tried to delete these blankety-blank files.

I AM NOT A TECHIE. I DON’T WANT TO BE A TECHIE. Nor do I think I should have to go find someone to do this for me. Nor do I think I should have to waste my time trying to figure this out, or even type up these questions. I AM SO ANGRY to be being put through this, completely unnecessarily..

WHAT THE HECK DO I HAVE TO DO TO FIX THIS?????

Or, if I just leave it on my site UNactivated, what additional harm will it do now???

  • There are instructions in the readme.txt, but the simplest thing to do is deactivate the plugin on the plugins page and remove the line that defines WP_CACHE in your wp-config.php.

plugins don’t just pop up – you had to install it

Some hosts add it in an effort to protect their hosting, so perhaps that’s what happened here.

Samuel — I activated it, but I definitely didn’t install it. When I installed WP, it was sitting there along with a number of others that I hadn’t gone out and looked for. I’d never have known about it elsewise and certainly wouldn’t have chosen it.

That’s great, donncha. Thanks. I already have it deactivated. Now all I need is where to find the wp-config.php, whatever that is. (I did tell you that I’m NOT a techie. Heck, I’m over the moon ecstatically proud of myself because I can build a simple html table.)

The wp-config.php should be in the “root” directory where your site is. Files like wp-login.php and the wp-admin directory are in that directory too. Just fire up your ftp programme, and there should be an edit file function on right click when you find it.
