• Having seen many recommendations for Super Cache, I installed and set it up, only to find it didn’t work with my theme (Widescreen by GraphPaperPress) and all of my menu/navigation had vanished.

I didn’t realize there was a different way to un-install from most plugins, so went in and hit “deactivate” and then “delete”. I got a bunch of error messages (cant replicate now unfortunately) and the site was still broken.

I logged into my file manager and went to wpcontent/plugins and manually deleted the SuperCache folder – still no joy.

It’s only now, after much googling, that I’ve found there was a specific way I should have un-installed… which is all a bit late for me, and my site is still broken.

I have put in a support request to my theme developers, but am also appealing here for anyone who could help. My site is http://www.mayuphotography.com and I’m running WP3.0.1

    Thanks,

    Mardi

Everything you need to do is outlined here:

    Thanks for the link James.

Because I had already deleted the folder plugins/wp-super-cache/ I can’t follow the “How to uninstall” process, so I guess I’m up to the “When all else fails” section.

Where would the wp-config.php be? I’ve searched my entire wp-content folder & subfolders and can’t find it….

Alternatively, if I completely delete the theme from my wp-content, then reload will that sort the problem? Would there be anything else I would need to delete before starting from scratch?

    Thanks,

The wp-config.php file is in your root WordPress directory with the wp-login.php file.

You don’t need to delete anything. Just follow the instructions in the guide I linked to under “To manually uninstall:”
