Hi all,
I am using WordPress with the WP-Super Cache plug-in.
Everything works fine. However, every time the plug-in deletes (manually or once every hour) cached files, the server load will go up to a very high level. Sometimes due to the high server load during the deletion, my site can't even be accessed and I have to restart the server.
What is the problem. Please advice. Thanks.
WordPress Version: 2.6.3
WP-Super Cache Version: 0.86
Do you have a very busy website? Are there a lot of cached files?
25000 pageviews per day in average..
I have set the plugin to delete cache files once every hour
every time i go to the setting page..i see about 11xxx expired files...and its take some time to get the number loaded..

suggestions:
- make timeout period longer, so you do not have so many expired pages
- delete cached pages more frequently, so there are fewer pages that gets deleted every time.
- clear out the cache: delete all cached pages ... to reduce number of pages to check. Obviously this will slow down your site, every page must be cached all over again.
just some suggestions.
I'd say the opposite. Set your expiry time to 5 minutes and garbage collection to 10 minutes so there aren't as many generated files to deleted each time.
