Admin Bar Displays for Non-Logged-In Users (11 posts)

    Hi,

In multisite, the admin bar appears on various pages even when the admin is logged off. It seems that, when a page is visited, the last cached state is displayed.

Clearing the cache on the main site will resolve it, but of course the sub-site users can't clear the cache.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Mark

I tried to reproduce this but couldn't. Logged out pages didn't have the admin bar.

Thanks for looking into it. I'll try again and see if I can attribute it to other causes (browser cache or something).

Had similar issue. new 3.1 install with 9.9.9.9 all non logged in users/surfers see twentyten theme on home page. logged in user see custom theme

maybe a themeing issue, but dissabling super cache cleared the problem

I am getting a similar thing on my 2 sites (multisite)

    http://www.peteluxford.com and http://www.stotfoldrunners.com

when I log in all is ok, if I log out the sidebar login, remains showing the logged in options. I also get the new multisite toolbar across the top of the pages. If I try and access dashboard I shows that I am logged out.

This is an issue as it is preventing people from registering on the site as they don't get the REGISTER Option on SIdebar login.

same here - admin bar showing on index page when logged out (i'm guessing i could get it to show on other pages as well, but it hasn't yet).

Try to reinstall the plugin again. Grab the latest version again as I fixed a problem with the 304 browser caching support. The fixed version wasn't tagged at the time so unfortunately there are some people with a 0.9.9.9 that will see this problem and the vast majority (who upgraded later ironically) who won't. 0.9.9.9 was tagged after the fix went in.

    hi donncha
i uninstalled, deactivated, deleted and reinstalled the 0.9.9.9 version and the browser is still caching the admin bar. unless i'm wrong, this not a security risk at all, correct? just a very minor annoyance.

It's not a security risk, it's your own browser caching it. There's a chance the admin pages are still cached even after you reinstalled the plugin. Can you clear the cache in your browser?

    hi
i've cleared the browser cache several times in testing (firefox) and still seeing the admin bar.
i'm really not worried about it at this point - it's really a trivial thing.
    thanks for your help!

That's odd. What happens if you disable caching for logged in users? Do you still see the admin bar when you logout?

Check your access log too, do you see a 304 status code when you request the page when you logout?
