When attempting the change the table name prefix, I get a message than my database user does not have ALTER permissions, but according to cPanel's MySQL user administration, it does for sure.
For most people, doing this process manually is out of the question, which is why they install a plugin, and this error is scary, because if the plugin is not working correctly, can we trust it with our blog's security?
Also, if the admin user is insecure, but the plugin won't change it, and .htaccess is not detected in wp-admin, but the plugin won't create it, what does it actually do?
