   I was looking for this functionality for a while.
   To be able to do custom thumbnail cropping on images instead of the automatic featured image cropping (which are sometimes far from desired).

   It is possible with this plugin: WP Post Thumbnail

   Hi guys, I known how to repair this plugin under WP 3.0.x ! The new WP system for "loop" (aka loop.php) not provide automatic access to global vars. You just need to add "GLOBAL $Wppt;" before to request "$Wppt->get_post_thumbnail(...)". Not need this fix into "Single" template ;)
