WP Photo Album Plus
[resolved] Need Image to Link to URL Specified (6 posts)

On the "Edit Album Info" page I have inserted an url that I wish people to be taken to when they click on the image as show here:
    http://www.sipe.com/jupiterridge/image-gallery-2/?wppa-album=1&wppa-photo=12&wppa-occur=1

Below that url window I see the instruction "If you want this link to be used, check the PS Overule"checkbox in table VI of the Photo Albums -> Settings admin page."

When i go there there are so many Names, Link Types and Link Page options that I do not know what to do.

When people see the image displayed at the image in the url above, I want them to be able to click on that image and get a full sized image in a new tab, i.e. the image that I have defined in the url box for this image on the "Edit Album Info" page.

Can someone please tell me which settings I need to change in Table VI to accomplish this?

...I have inserted an url ...
Did you insert that into the Description ?

You need to use the tables to define how and where to go.
Table VI is named LINKS and that is what it is, about links. It has plenty drop-down list where you will need to make a choice. That is the toll we have to pay for all the flexibility we want.

I think you'll just have to do some experimenting with these settings and drop-down options so as to have it do what you want and see what al is possible.

It's too bad I cannot upload an image to this forum. I could grab the screen and show you what I mean. This is truly where one photo would be worth a thousand words. I will try to clarify.

Under MANAGE PHOTOS (Photo Albums/Album Admin/galaxies/Edit Album Information) I have a photo. On the left side of the Manage Photos window near the bottom of the listing for the photo there is a location for me to put a "link url:". I put the link for the very large image which I want to be displayed when someone links on the image displayed at:

    http://www.sipe.com/jupiterridge/image-gallery-2/?wppa-album=1&wppa-photo=12&wppa-occur=1

Below the Link URL entry window is a entry window called "Link Title:"

Then immediately below that is a line of instruction saying "If you want this link to be used, check "PS Overule" checkbox in Table VI of the Photo Albums -> Settings admin page"

I have looked at that location and the options are so plentiful that I do not know where to begin to accomplish what ought to be a pretty straightforward task, namely to cause the image referenced on the Manage Photos display to link to the image I have referenced in the Link URL window for the image in question. Does that help?

Ok. I figured it out. I had to edit the SLIDESHOW image in Table VI. Thanks for the help Karesansui.

    Great !
I understand (and recognize) the initial "frustration".... that is why I wrote:
......That is the toll we have to pay for all the flexibility we want.

Lots of users think that what they want is straightforward, and it probably is. But al these obvious settings and behaviour adds up to a very flexible table-driven application that, due to that, gets more complicated in its use (initially) !

    Enjoy the Easter weekend,
