[resolved] Modifying wppa-functions.php (6 posts)

Firstly, I absolutely love this plugin and the slew of features built into it and options for manipulating it. However, there are a few other things that I wanted to change about the plugin and felt not all of them could be accomplished through the admin panel and/or CSS. Because some of the CSS is hard coded into the PHP file, through if/then statements, I needed to modify the actual functions PHP file to get the desired outcome I wanted. Since this file is constantly updated with every update for the plugin, is there a more permanent way to make changes that will not be overwritten when the plugin updates - similar to the themes for the CSS file?

    Gallery can be seen here.

    Thank you for your help.

If you tell me what you want there is a great chance that i will build your wishes into the plugin, so other users can also benfit from your ideas. This is the way the plugin has become what it is now.

Sorry for the delayed response. As I recall, I only had to change a couple of things in the code to have it display as I linked to before:

    1) The album covers were made to float left and I guess there was a CSS 'clear' attribute applied to every fourth one. I wanted them to all tile seamlessly regardless of how many were displayed per row so I just made them all float left and made their margins on both the left and right of the album cover box.

    2) The album titles are positioned next to the album cover image, I think it would be great if there was an option to place the titles above or below the image as it's already done in the link I provided.

I work mostly in front-end design and development and have studied graphic design for a few years, so let me know if you ever want a designer's input and/or help on possibly creating 'themes' for the slider.

    1) The number of album covers on a row is calculated by the setting in Table I-D1. If e.g. the columnwidth is 800px and the value in I-D1 is set to 300, there will be 3 covers on a row, filling the 800px equally (because if there were 2, they would be larger than 300px). This method is chosen because it works for differend column widths on different templates.
There is a clear:both on every first album in a row, also dependant of the number of covers as calculated above.

    2) Set Table IV-D3 to top

I think its really better first asking then doing a lot of unnessesary work.

Wow, that really was a lot easier, thanks! I get lost a lot in all those settings, there's so much customization that it's almost too much and too easy to get lost in. Have you ever considered creating themes that have different styles applied to them so people can find the style they like best and then work from there to manipulate it?

That would add another dimension of complexibility... It is an idea that i dropped in an early stage already.

Therefor i say: Ask me, if it is not there and it would be usable for others also, i'll make it, that is the way this plugin has become what it is now.

btw did you visit the docs site http://wppa.opajaap.nl/ ? it documents a lot.
