Is it possible to authenticate with the email address as well as the username?

Yes, it would be possible. The login function for the plugin is a pluggable function, so you would need to re-write it to accommodate validation against the email address.

I use the plugin WP Email Login for this, does not conflict with WP-Members as far as I’ve known.
