WP Maintenance Mode
[resolved] Custom Role can't see Frontend (3 posts)

I created custom Role, it is not by default installed with WordPress. Let's say it is called "SubAdmin". (Used plugin "User Role Editor)

Choosing "SubAdmin" role to be able to see frontend while in Maintenance mode does not work, this user can't see frontend.

With default roles everything works perfect (Editor, Subscriber... etc)

Sorry, figured out, that it has something to do with Capability "manage_categories".

Turning it off, turns off the ability to see frontend for this Role.

    Looks like a bug.

Best practice in wordpress style would be to have Capability like "see_frontend_in_maintenance". Then it is possible to set it for any Role, who can see and who can't.

the current way is, that I would not add a capability to all roles.
But, yes, this is right and maybe a solution for a later release.
