WP Mail SMTP
Can't Activate (5 posts)

I see the plugin listed, but when I click "activate" I am taken to my site's home page. When I navigate back to the admin plugins page I see that it was not activated.

Has anyone else run into this issue?

    Thanks

    Hola Steve,

I'm the plugin author. I haven't seen any reports of this problem. Can you activate other plugins? How about the "Hello Dolly" plugin?

You could try deleting the wp-content/plugins/wp-mail-smtp directory and re-uploading the plugin.

I'm a little short on suggestions. I think the problem lies outside of the wp-mail-smtp code, but I'm not sure where exactly.

    Love & joy - Callum.

    Thanks, Callum.

I was in a bit of a time crunch and ended up going with "Configure SMTP". I have a large number of plugins activated on this site, about 30, and I assume there was some sort of conflict. By the luck of the draw "Configure SMTP" did not run into any conflicts, I assume.

regardless thanks for the reply. I'll leave this unresolved in the event someone else encounters it.

    Thanks

    - Steve

I have had the exact problem both pre 3.0 and post 3.0.

    Installation is fine (automatic).

Any attempt to activate it, edit it, or delete it, simply redirects to the index page of the site.

I had to manually FTP into the site and delete the WP MAIL plugin folder. I attempted to re-install with the same results.

Other plugins (24 active) seem to be fine, I can activate and de-activate and edit with no issue.

I contacted my webhost (Crystaltech), and had them verify permissions and other settings as well - they could not find out what the issue was.

I utilize shared hosting on a ASP/ASP.NET plan.

After "Configure SMTP" was mentioned here, I installed with no issues. It's a shame, I was really interested in WP Mail SMTP.

Really weird, sorry to hear about your issues. The plugin works fine on hundreds (maybe thousands?) of other servers.

Can you see anything in the PHP error logs?

    Love & joy - Callum.
