Hello,
What an excellent idea. !!!
However it only picks up the activated plugins when trying to download/export the sites profile. Is it supposed to work this way?
Are there any thoughts of supporting multisites? In that case it should only be visible to super admins. What do you think?

Thanks for checking it out!! It was an intentional decision to only include active plugins in the profile download. Often, a site will have lots of "residual" plugins--ones which were tried and discarded--and I was worried it would be bad user experience to discover lots of these "phantom" plugins downloaded to a new site. With that said, I do see a value in optionally adding them to a profile.
I don't have a great deal of experience with multisites, but currently, the "Bulk Install Profiles" menu item is only visible to users with permission to install and activate plugins. I'll do some research into how the multisite activation process works.

Thanks for the reply and for looking into it Jon,
There could probably be a radio button to either download all of the plugins OR just the active ones.
I mean we now have a "test site" with maybe 80 plugins that can come handy for a new site but only have 3-4 only activated. It would certainly mess the site if we were to activate them just for the profile. After all we find it easier to just have them all up there and then just bulk delete them.
To take it a bit further it would be great if your plugin picked up all the plugins and place a tickbox next to everyone of them. Then, one can just choose the ones needed and save/download a "Shop Profile", a "Photoblog Profile", a "CMS Profile" etc.
As for multisites it should ONLY be available to superadmins under:
wp-admin/network/plugins -> Bulk Download Profiles

I totally agree. Now that the online tool for the plugin has launched, I'll be working on a new version that will include inactive plugins and the ability to pick and choose from a list when downloading a site's profile. Thanks again for checking it out!

Hello again iluminatus,
I just tried the latest v2.5.1 but unfortunately when I press the "Create a custom profile from this site" I doesn't do anything. :(
Although the number in the parenthesis shows the correct amount of all the plugins on the site.
Are you experiencing similar issues? At the moment I use the latest windows Chrome or latest Mozilla.

Sorry that feature's not working. I haven't heard any reports of that happening, but I'll take a look. Just so I'm sure of the problem, when you press the "Create a custom profile" button, you don't see a popup window with checkboxes for each installed plugin?
I'm wondering if another plugin is conflicting with the Javascript, or is it possible you have Javascript disabled in your browser?

Exactly. Still....
The results I posted above were from a local test on a friend's pc.
I just tried it on my mac/Safari and works just fine. :)
So I wouldn't know what the conflict could be, Javascript or plugin. Sorry. I am afraid you have to test it yourself. :(
