   Sorry, but the Custom Author Permalink part does not rewrite anything.
   Tried different possibilities, htaccess file does not change.

   The rewrite pairs work ok.

   hmhm, you're right, the Author Permalink Structure does NOT go in the htaccess file. It is part of the wordpress "internal rewrite".

   To check if the Custom Author Permalink is working just access your old author page using your new base.

   Example:
   "www.yoursite.tld/author/admin"
   should now be found at
   "www.yoursite.tld/YOURBASE/admin"

   Hope it is clear enough.
