[Plugin: WP Forum] Fails to install

I tried installing WP Forum 2.4 on WordPress 2.8.6; it claimed to install correctly, but when I tried to activate it it said “This plugin does not have a valid header”. The plugin also doesn’t show up in the list of plugins. I’ve double-checked and the files did install to the Plugins folder. Any ideas?

I’ve sometimes seen this occur with some plugins that are packaged with documentation and other extra files. if this is the case, the fix is a manual install – ie download the zip, extract it on your desktop & upload the plugin folder ftp, making sure that the actual plugin folder is not nested within an extra parent folder.

numeeja, that worked! It’s weird, because it looks like the auto-install didn’t have an additional parent folder. But whatever, it’s working now – even works with WordPress 2.9! Thanks a lot!
