I am having problems with displaying map in Safari. It works great in other tested browsers (IE, Chrome, Mozilla Firefox) but in Safari no map is displayed at all.

I am embedding the map directly in page template but the problem remains if I use the shortcode in page’s content.

    Any ideas? Thanks for support!

    G’day matinca,

I’ve checked the plugin page on Safari 5.1, both Mac and Windows, and it works OK so I’m fairly confident that the plugin works OK in Safari. I suspect there’s something else on your page that is generating a JavaScript error, which is consequently stopping Google Maps from functioning.

Can you provide a link to the page, so that I can have a look at it please? Are you getting any JavaScript errors in Safari? (Develop -> Show Error Console)

    cheers,
    Ross

As far as I can tell there’s no JavaScript error. You’ll see in the script that the address used has new line characters because the address is dynamically inserted through content processing, but the problem remains even with direct address specification.

    Here is the link.

    Thanks!!

Hmm, I’ve also just checked the plugin page in Safari, and here it doesn’t work.

Hehe, stupid me! I was developing as3 webpage recently with fallback html version and for testing I’ve disabled JavaScript. It works just perfectly now, of course. Sorry for sharing the stupidity consequences with you, thanks again though!

How are you testing this? I just ran your page in Safari 5.1 on Windows locally, and on Safari 5.1 Mac on browserstack, and both worked fine. Are you using a screen capture service to test Safari Mac? If so, it will never get the map because it loads after the screen capture occurs.

Have you tried my plugin page link? Do you have the same problem with it?

Also, while I’ve got your attention: if you add a directions link to your map using directions=true parameter, how is the Slovenian translation? I cheated and used Google Translate, and am fully expecting complaints but none have come yet 🙂

Aha, just read the above. No worries, it happens 🙂

There are several better translations than “smeri” 🙂
As you can see on the left button I used “Pridobite zemljevid poti ter navodila”, in english “Get the road map and directions”.
Google maps uses “Navodila za pot”

Juhu, improving quality of slovenian language in web!

Terrific, this is what I need! OK, can you please find the sl.js file in the i18n folder of the plugin, edit it, and email it to me? I’d be very grateful! My email address is in the copyright statement in the file flexible-map.php

If you happen to know some other languages and feel like fixing them too, that would be a bonus. I’ll give you full credit of course!

See, no silly mistake happens in vain!

    cheers,
    Ross
