WP Facebook Open Graph protocol
[resolved] Doesn't work with author pages (10 posts)

I have multiple authors on my site. The OGP Doesn't seem to work on author pages which is a shame, because members would probably like to facebook themselves. P ignores the author page and links to their first post, how do I change this?

Here an author page for example, if you type this into facebook it will ignore the link :(

First off... thanks for using my plugin and taking the time to comment

Author pages is something I haven't tested or honestly thought of and yet it's a completely valid feature the plugin should include. I will look into it and get this near the top of the roadmap. I have zero bandwidth right now with my current client load but I will get this in the next version or the one immediately after that.

Sorry for the inconvenience but hang tight, I'll get it in there! :)

    Thanks again!

Thanks chuck - its a very useful plugin.

Also is there a way to adjust the character count for the facebook excerpt. It is current set at 160 - but I want about 200. I know this sounds quite particular, but if you look at the subject matter of my site you'll see why it's important. Thanks :-)

Currently no. Usability practices tell me the less a user has to interact and choose what to do the more effective the system will be overall if small nuances can be handled programatically. I didn't want a bunch of options, as you can probably tell lol.

What I was looking for however is something from Facebook saying specifically how long a description can be before it's shut off... But I can't find that anywhere.

For you however, you're in luck... for the description, my plugin first checks for a post excerpt (which you could type your 200 there) before it goes to auto-generating the desc. So use that?

If this is for your author pages again then until I can get all that added in... wing it! :)

    Cheers

v1.3.5 addresses the url issue but I still have to get time to write all the custom shiz for author pages.

That works chuck for the url. But doesn't pick up the page title

There is another solution for me, is it easy to disable the opengraph for the author archive page? When I turn off the open graph, it actually naturally works really well for that page.

It would be as much work for me to do that than it would be to add it. the problem is I don't have the time right now with work. I am building into my bandwidth so soonish... sorry best I can do unless somebody wants to add it via pull request on github and I'll validate and push it through.

this is still in the roadmap. trying to do it w/o 'borrowing' code from other's plugins but not sure there's really another way lol. need more free time from work. Wanted to let you know it's still on my mind.
