• Hi guys,

I realize this might require an upgrade to the golden cart to get the capability of searching and paging and putting the items in grids on the product page.

    My question is this:

I have a database of about 70,000 items. I can re-set the database and create a csv file to match wp-ecommerce required format. Is there a limit on the numbers of products? and does mysql able to handle such a large database?

My other question is unrelated to the above subject, I have another site that I would like to catalog down loadable sheet music pdf files. my issue is that the downloads are free. these are all out of copyrights public domain sheet music, my intention is to use wp-ecommerce to catalog them NOT sell them. is there a way I can have a zero for the price and just open it up for free download.

    thank you,
    Robert

  • The new 3.8 release uses the same database for products that WordPress use for posts (Custom Post Types).

You can upload as many products as the WordPress database can handle. And I’ve seen sites with well over 100,000 products.

So should be fine. As for your other question, jump on the getshopped.org forums instead for more people floating around who actually know these things 🙂

    Thanks Mufasa,

I did post the same question at the getshopped.org site but I have not heard any answer from them for a while now.

    thank you,
    Robert

I have tried to find information on the getshopped.org forum and it seems pretty poorly laid out. I was experimenting with the old plugin to see if I could understand it, and saw the option to upgrade to 3.8+. I did that and everything seemed to go smoothly, but couldn’t find where they had moved and renamed things to for several hours. Still can’t find pagination, or where to set the number of products per page. I have set up four products, but only the three I set up before I upgraded will show on the product page.

I tried to find out how to upgrade to their golden globe level, or whatever that is, and it has disappeared also.

I’m thinking that if this is the best they have, then I better avoid it.

If you can tell me how to find the missing parts, or how to get an answer from someone on the forum, I’ll be glad to upgrade. If you’ll tell me how to do that, or what it costs. I can’t even find it on their site.
