SQL Restore Issue. (3 posts)

I can successfully create/save a backup of my database as the .sql file.

The issue that I'm running into is that if I go to a backup and select it to restore, yes it removes any data/plugins etc that might have been activated/created after that restore point but it does not revert my database back to the saved state in the .sql file. However, if I manually go into phpmyadmin and delete all the DB entries and upload that saved db file, it does go back to the saved tables in the .sql file.

Example: Create a DB backup, install then activate Plugin A. Plugin A adds 4 additional tables to your database. Select your DB backup and click restore. Plugin A is no longer activated but all the DB tables it created are still there.

Is the plugin supposed to function this way? I'm thinking not. I'm not getting any configuration errors all is good there. How can I resolve this if at all?

Yes, it is designed this way, backup is like a snapshot.

    Alrighty. Thanks Lester!

So I'll just have to remember if I'm doing a backup to manually replace the tables with the sql file.
