[resolved] Plugin WP-DBManager 2.3 corrupted my db -- all posts are gone (10 posts)

I hope someone here can help me.

After running the auto upgrade on this plugin WP-DBManager (went from version 2.2 to 2.3), all of my posts were erased from the db.

    See here: http://www.voxmia.com

Unfortunetly my backup (I only kept one at a time) was corrupted, and I can't be sure if it was due to the plugin or not, so I don't have back up to restore my posts.

Does anyone have any advise on what I can do to retrieve, if possible, the db.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you.

As an FYI, here's the error message from my PHP MySQL admin console:

#144 - Table './voxmiaco_wrdp1/wp_posts' is marked as crashed and last (automatic?) repair failed

    Any thoughts?

So you only have the most recent backup file?

Use phpMyAdmin to backup all your tables.

Then use phpMyAdmin to see if you can rebuild that table.

If that doesn't work, ask your host as they might also backup your database.

BTW, I'm skeptical that plugin corrupted you data.

Thanks for the reply. I will try as you suggest.

Of course, while a sequence of events does not imply causatively, the error happened immediately after I auto updated the plugin. But that's neither here nor there.

    Thank you.

There is problem with the auto upgrade and my previous version of my plugin, http://lesterchan.net/wordpress/2008/04/13/do-not-use-automatic-plugin-upgrade/

From *.30 version onwards for my plugins, the auto update should work fine.

I stand corrected bedobe. Hopefully the rebuild will work for you.

    Hi Michael,

No idea whether he can use the REPAIR query to repair the table.

I also did a google on the error, hope it is useful for him.

    Thank you GamerZ and MichaelH!

I used phpMyAdmin, as suggested, and was able to repair the table.

I have just installed this plugin into 2.5.1. Can I assume that all is safe? It worries me when I see this type of post - I am not very tech savvy!

    Cheers

    Jon.

If you want absolute safe, I would recommend using phpmyadmin to backup instead on top of the plugin.
