This plugin are for those who are in the admin area to chat back and forth. With apps like Skype, this is extremely limited.

Point taken, and I agree with you. With services like Skype available, this plugin doesn’t really offer much. I’m hoping to make it available on every page, a bit like Facebook chat, if you’ve ever used it. Just having a few issues getting it to work, but I’ll hopefully implement this in the next month or two.

I hope your chat plugin will be lite on resources. Using AJAXs would be a good start. I do really like AJAX Chat.

I have to disagree. It only contains the few options needed to have a chatroom.
And it's therefore awesome :)
Btw. It's only containing default WordPress code -unlike pretty much every other plugin out there- and because of that, it's even more awesome.
Having the default smilies (no, not by adding extra smilies) automatically translated to an image would be great however.

I think this plugin is a good example of less is more. There are already numerous chat-like plugins out there containing all kinds of (3rd party) Skype stuff.
This is the only plugin I've seen which simply is a chat-plugin. And it's one of the only plugins that actually is using the WordPress layout.
You may say it's a useless plugin as it's your personal opinion. I hope I'm allowed to say I think it's an amazing plugin?
