   I just tried to get some columns on a clean WP 3.1 install on the Twenty Ten theme and it didn't work. Also added the CSS code you posted but that is not helping either.

   Any suggestions how we can fix this?

   it sucks i used the column plugin from 2009 by sam burdge and works great with 3.1

   I ended up with Page Columnist. Briljant usage of the next page break.
