   The blue can get a bit monotonous when there are 50 events on the calendar.

   Would be cool if we could have, for example, RED = Concerts, GREEN = Community Events, YELLOW = Church Events etc...

   This is just the default. You can eighter copy the fullcalendar.css file and modify the default color, but you can also define a color for different categories. please refer to the faqs:
