[Plugin: WP Ajax Edit Comments] Ajax Edit Comments Quit Working with 2.6 Upgrade (41 posts)

    My installation of comment editing quit working when I upgraded to 2.6. It's been fine for months prior to that. To be specific, the comment editor appears on the screen, but it won't load the prior comment.

    Thanks for the help.

    I'm having the same problem. The editor comes up (after a longer load time than pre-2.6) but the comment information never fills in and the pale yellow box at the bottom of the pop-up window just says "Loading"

    Thanks.

    Hello all,

    There's an issue with jQuery 1.2.6, Prototype, and AEC.

    If you all can try this version, I force WordPress to go back to the WP 2.5 version of jQuery.

    http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/wp-ajax-edit-comments.2.1.0.8.zip

    Thanks.

    I will also try to find out what in the world is causing the compatibility issues. Unfortunately it's a hard bug to duplicate.

    BTW, that is an unofficial release, but I may release it as final if enough people are having issues.

    With V 2.1.0.8 I've a new problem.

    Fatal error: Call to a member function remove() on a non-object in /home/www/xxxxxxxxxxxxxx/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/xxxxxxxxxxxx/wp-content/plugins/wp-ajax-edit-comments/php/comment-editor.php on line 15

    It's the only thing that appear in the comment editor pop-up.

    2.1.1.0 seems to have fixed it for me. I'm waiting for word from blog readers, but based on my own test, so far so good. Thanks.

    Great to hear. I'll probably release it as an update after I've gotten some more feedback.

    2.1.1.0 (versioned 2.1.0.9) causes the following error at activation:

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_VARIABLE or '{' or '$' in .../xx.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-ajax-edit-comments/wp-ajax-edit-comments.php on line 966

    2.1.0.8 activates without issues and works fine.

    [I have deactivated & deleted and repeated both installs cleanly a number of times to make sure I wasn't making an error]

    Okay, I just released 2.1.1.1, which should have resolved all the errors on this thread. Thanks guys and gals.

    Hi thanks for updating the plugin. Install version 2.6 and I do not work well.
    Conflict with Lightbox 2 Rupert Morris, now with version wp-ajax-edit-comments.2.1.1.1 works well. Greetings

    My English is not good, I write with translator, I'm sorry

    Released 2.1.1.1 works fine.

    I have just a little new bug. On my comments, gravatars (displayed by Easy Gravatars) disapear after edit a comment. Just the gravatar on the edited comment. It appear again after reloading the page.

    Well, that was exciting. For those of you who haven't worked with Ronald before, he is one of the most dedicated and responsive developers you'll ever come across. Thanks for all you do!

    @Stellaire...I don't think that's a bug. I believe Gravatars need a page load to appear so they won't come up on an ajax call.

    @lexhair,

    Thanks! That means a lot.

    @Stellaire,
    Unfortunately there's no way for me to update a Gravatar if a comment has been edited on a mass scale. What's probably happening is the Easy Gravatars is displaying in the same div, and when the comment is edited, that div is being updated (minus the Easy Gravatar). Since this is temporary, it's not a pressing issue for me.

    Hi,
    I am using WP 2.6.

    Since I upgraded my WP to 2.6, this plugin stopped working.
    I regularly upgrade it (now using 2.1.1.5), but it's still not working.
    Can you help me? :)

    For all those still having 2.6 issues, please use the above link to send me an e-mail. Please prepare to also send wp-admin details, as it seems the bulk of WP 2.6 bugs have been fixed, but there are some case-by-case issues.

    Thanks.

    @all,

    I made some changes in the plugin for 2.2. If you have any more issues, please post here.

    Using WP Ajax Edit Comments 2.2.1.0 (just recently updated it) with WordPress 2.6.2 and it stopped working in the posts. Comments are still shown in "awaiting moderation" without any AJAX editing possible - but it seems to still work in the admin panel.

    I also have commentluv 2.5.3 running (also recently updated) which produces a jQuery error ("g is undefined"), but that does not harm the way it works.

    Maybe there is a connection?

    Though, Ajax Edit Comments does not work when commentluv is disabled, either.

    Do we have another jQuery problem here?

    I think I have the same problem after updating to the latest version WP Ajax Edit Comments 2.2.1.0. Users can not edit his comments. Plugin no longer displays the edit button ... How to solve the problem?

    For those having JS issues, I reverted back to jQuery 1.2.3 (again) for the time being.

    Any feedback on if this helps is appreciated. I plan to do a JS re-write and hopefully rectify the issue.

    This version is a test version to see if it helps, so feedback is appreciated.

    I tested version WP Ajax Edit Comments 2.2.1.1, but still not resolved the problem. Part of administration seems to go, but users can not edit comments. I hope to solve the problem because it is a useful plugin.

    AEC 2.2.1.1 seemed to fix my JS issues. Links/buttons on the comments section are now working properly with JS overriding default browser redirect behavior on AJAX calls. User editing works again and the timer is back!

    I also have the Commentluv plugin installed which is mentioned as interfering with AEC in former versions (http://www.raproject.com/ajax-edit-comments/). So I deactivated it and tried again - but no luck: AEC still does not work (any longer) in the 2.x version. Does not seem to be commentluv anymore...

    @All,

    If you're still having issues, please submit a support request so I can e-mail you directly. Please leave a URL so I can leave a test comment on your site.

    Please only do this after you have tried the 2.2.1.1 release (linked above).

    Interesting... when I am logged in and look at the comments in the single post pages view, all the AEC links appear. It just doesn't work directly after leaving a comment: no countdown, no links...

    When you are logged seems to work normally, but when you are not logged in and write a review as a normal user like I did not installed in blog AEC plugin.

    Okay, here's another go

    http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/wp-ajax-edit-comments.2.2.2.0.zip

    I re-wrote the script files to be more in line with the jQuery authoring guidelines. It's using jQuery 1.2.6 again, so I'm crossing my fingers.
